New US Visa Policy

Effective July 8, 2025, the U.S. Department of State updated its reciprocal nonimmigrant visa policy, restricting Nigerian citizens to single-entry visas for the majority of nonimmigrant and non-official categories.

This change, announced on X, formerly Twitter, Wakawaka Doctor reports, means that Nigerians holding these visas will only be allowed one entry into the United States within three months, a significant shift from previous multiple-entry allowances.

However, visas issued before July 8, 2025, will remain valid under their original terms.

US visa policy

The updated US visa policy is expected to impact Nigerian travellers, including tourists, business visitors, and those attending international events, requiring them to plan their trips more carefully.

This new restriction could affect Nigerians attending major events abroad, such as the World Cup, by limiting flexibility in travel arrangements.

Travellers are advised to check the latest US visa policy updates and consult with the U.S. embassy or consulate to understand how these changes may affect their travel plans.

The shift to a single-entry, short-term visa underlines the evolving nature of international travel regulations and the importance of staying informed about visa requirements.
